Alhaj Syed Hafiz Waris Ali Shah (RA) (1809-1905)

Hazrat Waris Ali Shah (RA) is a highly respected and recognized Sufi saint of the Subcontinent. He was born in 1809 in the household of Husseini Sayyids respected for their piety and learning. From an early age, Hazrat Waris Ali Shah (RA) was known for his innate patience, generosity, kindness, and aversion towards the materialistic life. He soon began displaying a keen desire for learning more about Islam, and spent the rest of his life pursuing that goal, while simultaneously spreading the spirit of Islamic brotherhood, universality, and peace. Today, he is remembered as a spiritual beacon, whose teachings of love, peace, humanitarianism and universality have influenced the lives of many generations.

St. Rumi's Educational Society

Waris Ali Shah Public School was visualized by Hazrat Gul Muhammad Khan Warsi (RA), a modern day Sufi saint of the Warsi silsila. He envisaged the establishment of a great institution of learning which would impart excellect quality of education at an affordable cost and help in raising the literacy standard of Pakistan. Under his inpiring guidance his devoted followers, Mr. Muhammad Nazir Malik and Mrs. Abida Nazir, along with the support of Warsi kinsmen, well-wishers, and associates, founded the St. Rumi's Educational Society in 1991. The Society is named after Maulana Jalal-ud-din Rumi, the great mystical poet and saint of the 13th century, whose literary and spiritual works have spread throughout the world. The 800th birth anniversary of Rumi is being celebrated all over the world in 2007 as UNESCO has declared the year 2007 as an International Rumi Year.

Establishment of Waris Ali Shah Public School

The School started operations in 1994 by the St. Rumi's Society and managed by Mr. Muhammad Nazir Malik as the Administrator and Mrs. Abida Nazir as the Principal. With the blessings of Allah (SWT), the school continues to flourish with the support and love of the communal harmony sustained by its students and their parents, fellow Warsians, friends, family, and faculty. Since its inception as a Pre-K school initially, alhamdulillah, WPS has today developed into an established school providing quality education upto the grade 10 level.
